Common wet-basement patterns
Water may appear after rain, along the wall-floor joint, through a wall crack, across the floor, around penetrations, or near a sump basin. Each pattern points toward a different diagnostic path.
Start with the symptom
If the timing is storm-related, read water in the basement after heavy rain. If it is wall seepage, see basement wall leaks. If it rises through the slab or floor joint, see water through the basement floor.
Move from symptom to service
Once the water path is understood, likely solution categories include interior waterproofing, exterior waterproofing, drainage, pumping, or localized crack repair.
